Cyan Brasserie – Andaz Capital Gate – Iftar Review

Highly recommended! For a sophisticated Iftar with gorgeous views and exquisite food, Cyan Brasserie is a fantastic choice.

During the holy month of Ramadan, the search begins for the perfect Iftar – a delicious and comforting meal to break the fast after sundown. With so many options in Abu Dhabi, finding that special spot can be a challenge.

Over the past month we have been inundated with Ramadan offers, by the looks of it everyone has some sort of Iftar experience so we feel this year we should focus on showcasing the best on offer and kicking off is an old favorite: Cyan Brasserie at the iconic Andaz Capital Gate

The Venue

Stepping into Cyan for the first time is an experience. Perched on the 18th floor of Abu Dhabi’s leaning tower, the restaurant’s floor-to-ceiling windows offer breathtaking views of the city.

The warm interior, with its namesake cyan color, white accents, and lush greenery, immediately feels inviting.

We loved the elegant touches on each table: traditional lamps and intricately carved boxes overflowing with dried fruits.

The Drinks

Cyan takes their Iftar drinks seriously. Along with the expected Jallab, tamarind, and apricot, they offer unique smoothies with a delightful twist on tradition.

The laban mint smoothie was a standout – the perfect mix of sweet and tart. It’s great that everything from water to coffee is included with the buffet, so you don’t have to worry about extra drink charges.

The Food

The menu at Cyan is carefully curated, offering elevated takes on all the traditional Iftar favorites. It’s clear they prioritize quality over quantity, and the results are fantastic!

We started with a selection of fresh-baked bread, creative dips, and those delicious savory fried snacks perfect for breaking the fast.

Watching the chef in the open kitchen make the thinnest flatbreads was mesmerizing – they were perfect for scooping up dishes like the buttery paneer. The comforting harira soup, selection of cold mezze, international salads, and array of olives rounded out our starters.

The Arabic mixed grill had all the classics, but we also loved the pan-fried tandoori fish and chicken fajitas for a bit of variety. The absolute highlight was the massive lamb ouzi platter – the meat was so tender and flavorful.

Cyan’s dessert spread hits all the right notes. Indulge in umm ali, kunafa, and other Arabic sweets, or opt for Western classics like tiramisu. There’s even an ice cream machine with toppings, fresh cut fruit, and a decadent chocolate fountain – what more could you want?

The Verdict

The ambiance at Cyan is top-notch, the service is excellent, and the food is absolutely delicious. While not the largest Iftar buffet, the dishes are all thoughtfully prepared and bursting with flavor. If you’re like us and prefer quality over endless options, this is the Iftar for you
